TERM OF CONTRACT:
The term of this contract is from November 15 through to April 15.
GENERAL SERVICE PROVIDED:
This contract covers all snowfalls of five (5) cm or more. This contract does not cover snow events totaling less than five (5) cm. Generally, one laneway clearing run is scheduled for snow events of about 5 to 10 cm, and multiple visits are scheduled during heavier snowfalls.
DRIVEWAY MARKERS:
Will be installed street side of the laneway at the beginning of every snow blowing season. It is the responsibility for the homeowner to install markers at step, retaining wall and any immovable objects surrounding the laneway that could be hit as snow accumulates. (See below – LANEWAY OBSTRUCTIONS)
CLEANING TIME FRAME:
A complete laneway clearing will usually be completed within six (6) hours after the end of a snowfall.
In case of large snowfalls of 25cm or more, general service time frames do not apply. Delays in service can occur.
CITY PLOW DEBRIS:
A visit to clear street plow debris will be made as promptly as possible in all cases where the city plows streets within 24 hours after the end of a snowfall. If the street plow does not clean your road within the duration of the immediate snowfall, drivers will retire and return to clean early morning. City sidewalk plow debris will be cleared if it is concurrent with the clearing of street plow debris.
PARKED VEHICLES IN LANEWAYS:
If a vehicle is parked in the laneway, we will only clean what is accessible to the driver.
SIDEWALK SHOVELING:
Walkway shoveling services, if included in this contract, is performed separately from the laneway snow blowing service and will begin at the end of each snowfall and will be cleared by hand shovel. There is a wait time for this service AND there can be longer wait times for heavier snowfalls. Walkway service does not include the removal of snow or ice resulting from freezing rain, sleet, compaction, or snow that has fallen off roof or drifting.
LANEWAY OBSTRUCTIONS:
The contractor will exercise care in the performance of snow blowing to avoid damage to the property. To assist us in preventing damage It is the customers responsibility to keep the snow removal area (i.e. Driveway) free of all objects. Stone Edge Snow Blowing will not be responsible for damages, including but not limited to the following.
- Portable basketball nets, plant pots, extension cords, Christmas lights etc. All moveable property must be removed or placed no less than 3 feet from the edge of the driveway.
- Garbage cans and recycle bins. Please ensure that these stay clear of area to be cleaned. In the event snow cleaning falls on garbage collection days the driver will work around them.
- Elevated water valve caps. Protruding water valve caps must be hammered down to the level of the surrounding asphalt/interlock. You can do this yourself or contact the City of Ottawa at 613-580-2400. The snow blowers can pull them out if not level which can cause damages to your laneway and to our equipment.
- Fixed brickwork/interlock or structures. You will be responsible to mark or notify us of protruding immoveable objects such as retaining walls, steps, patio stones, bushes, trees, etc. to protect this area from being damaged. If properly marked this will alleviate damages that can occur throughout the season. These objects will become hidden under the snow during the season.
SEASONAL SNOW LIMIT:
After seasonal snowfall accumulation has reached 270cm, a fee of $1/cm of cleared snow per event for the driveway and $1/cm of cleared snow per event for the walkway (if applicable) will apply. This data is gathered from Environment Canada as recorded at the Ottawa International Airport.
SEASONAL SNOW EVENT:
After 23 snow events, it will be deemed that contract has now reached its seasonal limit, a surcharge based on snowfall will be charged as noted in the Seasonal Snow Limit. A snow
event is considered clearing of snow over 5cm. Multiple visits during larger events would still be deemed as one snow event. Clients will not be able to opt out of a visit. It will be at the discretion of the company to decide what is considered a snow event.
CANCELLATION POLICY:
You must give a 30-day notice of cancellation of service by email or by phone.
OVERDUE PAYMENTS:
If the contract goes in to default due to nonpayment as per terms, the contractual financial obligation as well as all interest and penalties will be due in full, immediately. In the event the payment in full is not made, interest will continue to accrue at a rate of 2 percent, compounded daily, and applied monthly until the contract is satisfied in full. The vendor reserves the right to report to credit bureaus.
CONTRACTS ARE AUTO-RENEWED EVERY YEAR UNLESS NOTIFIED BY EMAIL OR BY PHONE.
